Connected Conversations, Ep4: On being Grounded

On Being Grounded

An honest conversation about inner voices, lingering words, and learning to hear yourself again.

The Words We Carry

Some words leave quickly.

Others stay for years.

As this conversation unfolded, we found ourselves reflecting on the quiet weight of words that linger — comments, assumptions, or passing remarks that slowly become intertwined with the way we see ourselves.

Not always loudly.

Sometimes subtly.

Repeated often enough that they begin to sound true.

And somewhere along the way, we stop questioning where those voices came from in the first place.

The Version Within

We spoke about the difference between how someone appears externally and the voice they live beside internally.

How easy it can be to move through life carrying narratives that no longer belong to us — yet still shape the way we speak to ourselves quietly.

There was something grounding in noticing that.

Not rushing to rewrite every thought immediately, but simply becoming aware of what has been sitting within us all this while.

Learning To Listen Again

One question from this conversation lingered:

What are the words still lingering in your mind… that may not even be true anymore?

Not every voice deserves permanence.

And perhaps healing is not always about becoming someone entirely new — but learning which words deserve to stay, and which ones no longer belong in the way we speak to ourselves.

Sometimes, hearing yourself clearly again begins with slowing down long enough to listen.

Closing

This conversation reminded me that our inner voice is often shaped subconsciously — through memory, repetition, and the things we absorb over time.

And maybe growth isn’t always about finding a new voice, but returning to the one beneath the noise.
